QUARTERLY BUSINESS MEETING
FEBRUARY 10, 2009
CALL TO ORDER
The NCLEWA quarterly business meeting was held at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Hotel Restaurant Wrightsville Beach , NC. The meeting convened at 12:00 p.m. and the invocation was delivered by the President Kelly Oaks.

READING OF MINUTES
The minutes of the last quarterly meeting were read. Patricia Smith made a motion to accept the minutes as read. The motion was seconded by Patricia Driggers and the motion was passed.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Patricia Driggers read the Treasurer’s report. Checks were written to cover Forgotten Residents, Cyber Sharks, and Conference costs. Checks are to be written to the Community College for $300.00.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT
There are no new applications at this time. The address on the online applications will be changed to Captain Patricia Driggers 206 Marine Blvd Jacksonville NC 28540.
CHAPLAIN’S REPORT
Due to Marissa Davis’ absent no report, aside from 2008 being the lowest year in LEO deaths in 50 years.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
North Carolina Law Enforcement Women's Association 53rd Annual Conference-
Dates- The conference has been scheduled for the week of Labor Day at the Edneyville Campus. Due to renovations to the classrooms and gymnasium space at the campus is limited. Projected date of arrival will be on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 and continue through Saturday September 12, 2009.
Training- Twenty hours of instruction to be given. Roger Miller and John Combs have agreed to do blocks of training in ground fighting, weapons retention, SCAT, building searches, etc.Attorney Gayle Kemp on staff advised she would be able to do a day of legal training. Lela Humphries would also be available for a leadership block. It was discussed that the business meeting take place during the week instead of the traditional Saturday. Projected classes were discussed as follows:
Wednesday 8-12 (1-4 hrs) Legal Updates, break for lunch, 1-5 Ground Fighting (questionable 8 or 10 hour day).
Thursday 8-12 Leadership (if 4 hours is needed), long lunch break, resuming classes at 5-9 for building searches (8 hour day).
Friday 8-12 (5-8 continued hrs) Legal Updates, break for lunch, Friday afternoon team building exercise.
Meals- Food committee to be formed. Possibly attend Dinner Cruise.
Costs to attendees- $100.00 to include $25.00 dinner (Banquet); $25.00 membership fee.
OTHER BUSINESS
-Trudie Allen was promoted to Juvenile Detective.
-The next meeting scheduled meeting of the NCLEWA is Tuesday May 19, 2009 at 11am at Salemburg. The meeting will be in the Library in room # 16. We are planning on meeting then going to lunch at Salem Pizza.
-MySpace link is to be set up by Anna Smith. MySpace will be private and only open to members.
With there being no other business, Patricia Driggers made the motion to adjourn the meeting and Lorraine Galloway seconded the motion. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
