DEFINITION:

Provides leadership and oversight through active participation in the work of faculty and staff responsible for providing classroom and laboratory instructional services to law enforcement students, and to perform a variety of administrative and technical tasks relative to the Economic and Workforce Development (EWD) Law Enforcement (LE) Training program area.  In addition, this position is to provide educational and credentialing opportunities for current law enforcement personnel and those seeking a career in law enforcement and related fields include detention, corrections, and/or telecommunicator while maintaining program requirements from all credentialing bodies. The CORE Crisis Co-Responder Program is the first county-wide Law Enforcement co-responder program in North Carolina, serving Alamance County Sheriff, Burlington Police, Haw River Police, Gibsonville Police, Graham Police, Mebane Police, and Elon Police agencies. One responder is currently embedded with the Burlington Police Department M-F 8am to 5pm and RHA seeks to expand this service until midnight.

Education:

• Bachelor Degree (Not Human Services field) & 4+ years full-time experience with population served OR
• Bachelor Degree (in Human Services field) & 2+ years full-time experience with population served OR
• Master’s Degree or Higher & 1+ years full-time experience with population served.
• License, Provisional License, Certificate, Registration, Permit issued by governing board regulating human service profession.

Hiring range is $74,268.83 - $81,695.71.

Desirable Training and Experience

Graduation from a two-year college with a degree in criminal justice, emergency medical services, fire services management, emergency management or in related field with extensive experience in 911 communications and/or public safety operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license upon hire.

Obtain Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification within six of employment.

Obtain Emergency Police Dispatch Certification within six months of employment.

Obtain Fire Dispatch Certification within six months of employment.

Obtain CPR Certification within one year of employment

Obtain N.C. Division of Criminal Information Certification within one year of employment

Obtain Public Safety Communicator Certification or its equivalent within one year of employment.

Desirable Education and Experience

Graduation from high school and completion of basic law enforcement training; possession of a Basic Law Enforcement Certificate preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirement

Before assignment to sworn duties, employees must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license and have completed at least the minimum requirements established by the North Carolina Sheriff's Training and Standards Commission for certified law enforcement officers with prospects of successfully completing the entire certification process within prescribed time frames.
May require radar and other certifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Forensics Science or related field of study, or equivalent experience.
• Experience performing crime scene and/or laboratory duties including the processing of evidence and latent prints for a law enforcement agency is preferred.
• Possess a valid Driver’s License to drive Crime Scene Vehicle to scenes.
• Available for on-call work schedule assignments that require working nights, weekend, holidays, and overtime as necessary.
